2008/2009 Gladiator try-outs will be the week of March 31.   Watch the web as we will be updating the websites, www.auburnyouthhockey.com and  www.layhl.com,  with exact dates and times for each division.   (These should be confirmed this week… it’s dependant on the Maineiacs schedule.)    However, it WILL be the week of March 31.  The try-out fee is $40 per child and parents will be required to sign a document stating that they are aware of the assessment amount and payment schedule, and that the expectation is that they will accept the position if they are offered one.  The cost for the 2008/2009 season is to be determined, but will be approximately $1,300 (+/-), to be finalized once ice costs are confirmed.  )The limited season Bantam team assessment is to be determined, but will be less.)

Gladiators will field the following teams:

Squirts – Children born in the years 1998 & 1999; will compete in the MeAHA Tier I (Comp A) league, and the Valley League. 

Pee Wees – Children born in the years 1996 & 1997; team will compete in the MeAHA Tier I (Comp A) league, and the Valley League.

Bantam – Children born in the years 1994 & 1995 are eligible.   There will be TWO Gladiator Bantam teams.   One team will have a full schedule and will compete in the MeAHA Tier I (Comp A) league as well as the Valley League.   The other team will have a limited schedule.   They will compete in the MeAHA Tier I (Comp A) league with games to be scheduled around high school games as much as possible, and may pick up non-league games with other teams in Maine.   They will NOT compete in the Valley League, and once high school starts will likely practice just once a week.   Bantam age players can decide which program format is best suited for them and their circumstances.  The limited schedule Bantam team will have try-outs the first two nights.   At the conclusion of the second night those trying out will meet with the coach and the team will be selected that night.  

The full-season Bantam team try-outs will begin on night 3, and they will have a fourth night of try-outs.  If a child trys out for the limited schedule team and does not make it he/she may then try-out for the full season team.

Coaches applications are currently be accepted.   Any coach interested in coaching a Gladiator team should email their letter of intent and/or resume to Sue Smith at sycsmith@fairpoint.net  PRIOR TO MARCH 21!   The Gladiator Committee will announce the Head Coach selections by March 27.   PLEASE DO NOT email or call Gladiator Committee members asking for names and/or numbers of applicants!
